While we were away...

JuJu and PaPa T kept the girls while we were gone.  So thankful for awesome grandparents who love on/spoil our kids while we are gone!!!

Thursday after school PaPa T made a little garden for the fruits and flowers we are attempting to grow...we shall see!

Kate reading to Camryn...

Friday they met Karen, Emma, Abby, and Nathan in Fort Worth and went to the Children's Science Museum...then they went back to Karen's house to play and ride bikes.

JuJu and PaPa T surprised them with new pajamas before they left Fort Worth.  Elsa and Anna gowns for Kate, Emma, Brynlee, and Abby, Olaf (snowman from Frozen) for Camryn, and Mickey for Nate.

Saturday morning Mom sent me this picture of the girls...

Kate wrote a letter to Elsa and Anna to send in the mail...

playing in their new Sands Alive! from JuJu...

After 4 nights away we were ready to see these girls!!!

The Greenbrier

Parker and I got to go to The Greenbrier in West Virginia.  It was a reward trip with one of the insurance carriers...or something like that.  Honestly, Parker said "I won a trip to West Virginia" and then I tuned out after that...kidding...well, kind of.  West Virginia is beautiful.  Neither one of us had ever been there.

The resort...they call themselves "America's Resort" is very unique.  This was our room...the hotel was decorated by Dorothy Draper...which meant nothing to me but apparently she loved flowers and patterns because they are everywhere!  I felt like I was in a Southern Living magazine back in the 1990s.

Thursday night we got in just in time to eat dinner.  We had fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, and chocolate bread pudding!  It was delicious.

Friday it rained on and off all day.  We went to eat lunch at the golf clubhouse.

This is where The Greenbrier Classis is held...

Then we took a shuttle to Lewisburg and walked around for a few hours.

Waiting out one of the many rain showers.  We ended up eating at Food and Friends which was great!

Then we came back to the hotel and had room service dessert...probably my favorite thing about vacation!

Saturday we had lunch at Draper's in the resort.  Pink tables, pink glasses, floral booths...Parker fit right in!

I got a fried green tomato sandwich...it was interesting...

Then we went on The Bunker tour.  As we walked through the hotel, our tour guide told us this was the chandelier from Gone with the Wind...

The Bunker Tour was fascinating.  It was built in the late 1950s during the Eisenhower administration to house the Senate and House during the Cold War.  It was kept a secret until 1992.  They built it under the West Virginia Wing of the hotel.  It was dormitories, a full kitchen, a room where both parties could meet, showers, medical clinic, etc.  You could not take pictures on the tour but here is one of the blast doors.  The door was concealed with a fake wall with the same wallpaper as the hotel.

Sunday Parker played golf and I walked around.  The tulips were amazing!!!

The train depot is also a Christmas Shop.  It was pretty fun!

The Greenbrier!

White Sulpher Springs...why people were originally drawn to the area.  These were supposed to be healing waters...

The North Entrance...

our last night there...

They took a picture of us the first night and gave it to us the last night...

Such a fun few days away!
