Destin: The Salt Pool

We spent all of last week in Destin, Florida with Parker's family. We had a great trip! The weather was perfect all week and the water was clear and pretty calm. This was our first trip to the beach since Kate was 9 months old. We had been talking about it all summer and needless to say, Kate was so excited to build sandcastles, jump waves and fly kites! So excited that when we woke her up at 4 AM to leave...she DID NOT GO BACK TO SLEEP! Yes, she was awake and giddy the entire 9 hour trip from Shreveport to Florida.

Kate called the ocean the salt pool. It only took one big wave to the face for her to figure out that she didn't want salt water in her mouth. Most of the time she made someone carry her past the waves. When she got tired of "the salt pool" she would go back to playing in the sand.

Brynlee was a little unsure of the sand at first...I think she had just put her sand covered hand in her mouth...

Kate had a blast building sandcastles (or stepping on the sand castles other people built)...
